Is GTA 6 on PC? What Rockstar has actually said
No PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has been announced. Rockstar lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so any PC date you see is a rumour.
Will it come to PC later?
Rockstar hasn't said. Its earlier games reached PC after their console launches, which is why people expect it, but that's a pattern and not an announcement.
Beware of fake PC downloads
There is no legitimate PC version to download. Treat any site offering one, or a free early copy, as a scam.
- Don't run an installer or "launcher" from a site claiming to offer GTA 6 on PC.
- Don't enter your Rockstar, PlayStation or Xbox password on an unofficial site.
- Don't pay for a "PC key" or "beta access". Official news comes from Rockstar.
What can PC players do now?
GTA 5 is on PC, and you can use cheats in Story Mode. If you want to change the game, read what Rockstar allows with mods first.
How long did past games take?
| Game | Console launch | PC launch |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | 2013 | 2015 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 2018 | 2019 |
That's history and not a promise. Rockstar hasn't given a PC date for GTA 6.
Should you buy a console or wait?
If you can't wait to play and you don't want spoilers, a console is the only way to play at launch. If you don't mind waiting, you could hold on and see. Just remember that a PC version could be a long way off, and it may ask for serious hardware.
Should you upgrade your PC now?
No. There are no PC requirements yet, so any upgrade would be a guess. Wait until Rockstar publishes them.
How to check a claim yourself
- Go to Rockstar's own site and see what platforms it lists.
- Look for a Rockstar Newswire post, not a screenshot of one.
- If a site asks you to download something, close it.
Will GTA 6 mods exist on PC?
Not until there's a PC version, and Rockstar hasn't said anything on it. Mods are a big reason why people want it on PC. Its single-player mod statement covers Rockstar's PC games, but it's too early to say how that will apply to GTA 6.
Can you stream it to a PC?
If you own the console version, remote play apps can stream it to other screens. That's not a PC version, and your console still does the work. It may be useful if you share a TV.
