GTA 6 map: Leonida, Vice City and every known region

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is set in the fictional state of Leonida, which is based on Florida. Vice City is its big city, but the state stretches well beyond it into swamp, islands, farmland and a national park.

The main regions

RegionWhat it's like
Vice CityThe neon metropolis at the heart of the game, inspired by Miami
Leonida KeysA chain of islands, inspired by the Florida Keys, and where the leads start out
GrassriversWild wetlands, inspired by the Everglades
Port GellhornA worn-down coastal town
AmbrosiaAn inland region
Mount Kalaga National ParkWilderness for exploring and wildlife

How big is the map?

Rockstar hasn't published an official size that we can confirm. Fan estimates put it at around twice the size of GTA 5's map, so treat any exact figure as an estimate.

What's in it

  • Far more interiors than usual, including malls, hotels, nightclubs and shops.
  • Underwater areas with treasure to find.
  • Reported landmarks including an airport, a stadium and a zoo.
  • More than 170 animal species, according to GTA Base's coverage.

Getting around

As well as your own vehicles, you can call a ride through the in-game RydeMe app, which works as fast travel. Reports also mention a satellite-style map view.

Is it just Vice City?

No, and that's what makes this different from the 2002 game. Vice City is the main city, but Leonida takes in six counties, according to GTA Base's coverage, with a wide mix of landscapes. If you loved Blaine County in GTA 5, you can expect plenty of open country to go with the neon.

Is it based on real places?

Where should you explore first?

We'd suggest following the story until the map opens, then heading out of the city. Rockstar has packed the world with animals, activities and interiors, so the fun is in finding them. When the game launches, we'll add a proper region guide with tips from real play.

Will there be an interactive map?

Not from Rockstar yet, as far as we've seen. Fan maps exist, but anything published before launch is built from trailers and leaks, so it's bound to contain errors.
