Fix it
How to update Roblox on PC, Mac and mobile (and fix error 280)
Error 280 means the Roblox app on your device is older than the servers expect. A fresh install fixes it almost every time.
Phones and tablets
- Open the App Store, Google Play or Amazon Appstore.
- Find Roblox and tap Update if it shows.
- If there is no update and the error stays, delete the app and install it again.
Windows PC
- Open Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps (Apps & features on Windows 10).
- Find Roblox and choose Uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- Go to roblox.com, press Play on any game and let the new version install.
Still stuck? Roblox's own help also suggests clearing the leftover Roblox folder in AppData\Local after uninstalling, then restarting before you reinstall.
Mac
- Quit Roblox.
- Drag Roblox from Applications to the Trash, or select it and choose Move to Trash.
- Go to roblox.com, press Play on any game and install the new version.
If the update does not help
- Try a different network. A school or office network can block parts of Roblox.
- Check whether Roblox itself is having problems: see is Roblox down?
- Make sure your device still meets the minimum requirements.
