Free Robux scams: how to spot them and stay safe
There's no such thing as a free Robux generator. Every site that promises one wants your account, your money or your data. Here's how these scams work, and what to do if one has got you.
Why generators can't work
Robux is held on Roblox's own systems. No outside website can add it to your account, however convincing it looks. If you see a counter climbing on screen, it's just an animation.
The most common scams
| Scam | How it works |
|---|---|
| Robux generators | Asks for your username, then your password |
| Survey walls | You complete offers that earn the scammer money |
| Fake game links | A copy of a login page steals your details |
| "Give me your items" | You trade first, and they never pay |
| Fake staff | Someone claims to be from Roblox and asks for your code |
| Malware tools | A download steals your saved logins |
Warning signs
- It promises something for nothing.
- It's urgent: "only 5 minutes left".
- It asks for your password, cookie or two-step code.
- It asks you to paste something into your browser.
- It wants you to leave Roblox to finish.
If you've been caught
- Change your password straight away.
- Turn on two-step verification.
- Sign out of all other sessions in your settings.
- Run a virus scan if you downloaded anything.
- Report it to Roblox through its support page.
- Tell a parent if you're under 18.
Real ways to get Robux
- Buy it from Roblox, or with official gift cards from trusted shops.
- Choose a Plus bundle, which includes monthly Robux.
- Earn it by making games or clothes people want to buy.
Reporting a scam
If you see a scam in a game or a chat, block the person and use the report tool. Reports help Roblox stop these accounts reaching anybody else. Don't argue with them, and don't click anything they send to "prove" it's real.
Why people fall for it
Scams work because they look real and copy familiar styles, with fake comments and counters. Younger players get targeted the most. Parents can help by explaining the rule: nothing on Roblox is free if it asks for your password.
What about Robux from games?
Some games promise Robux as a reward. Be careful, because a game can't hand out Robux the way it might claim.
