Hello Kitty Island Adventure opens a Switch Online Game Trial through October 15

Nintendo Switch Online members can try the full cozy island game until October 15 and keep their progress if they decide to buy.

A little time on a friendly island is included with Nintendo Switch Online this week. From October 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time until October 15 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, members can download and play the full Nintendo Switch version of Hello Kitty Island Adventure at no additional game charge during a limited Game Trial.

The word *trial* is doing important work. Nintendo is opening the complete game for a defined window, not giving away an unrestricted permanent copy. When the offer ends, members who want to continue will need to own the game or use another valid access arrangement. That distinction is especially useful when a headline simply says a game is free.

What the membership includes this week

Nintendo says the Game Trial is a benefit for Nintendo Switch Online members. During the eligible period, a member can download Hello Kitty Island Adventure and explore the same game rather than a tiny demo with a specially limited area. There is no additional game purchase required for the trial period, but the Nintendo Switch Online membership itself is a paid service unless a separate valid membership trial applies.

The game is built around restoring an island alongside Hello Kitty and friends. The official Nintendo description includes quests, decorating cabins, cooking, gifting, character customisation, puzzles, gardening and finding wildlife. These are activities that make sense for a trial session because progress can be made in several directions without requiring a competitive schedule.

If you are curious but unsure about committing money to a cozy life-sim adventure, the trial lets you answer practical questions for yourself: Do you enjoy the quest pace? Do you like its routines and collection systems? Would you keep decorating and exploring once the initial novelty wears off? Those are judgments only the player can make. A promotional description cannot substitute for your own experience.

Nintendo also says trial players can earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points through an associated membership mission for trying the game. Missions may require particular account actions, so check the official offer page rather than assuming points appear automatically.

Saves and the separate discount

The best detail for a cautious buyer is save-data carryover. Nintendo confirms that if you purchase Hello Kitty Island Adventure during or after the trial, your saved progress remains available. A week spent meeting island residents is therefore not described as disposable practice. Still, follow the store and account requirements if you switch devices or editions.

Nintendo pairs the Game Trial with a 45% discount on the digital Nintendo Switch version at participating Nintendo Store and eShop storefronts. That sale ends October 18 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, three days after the trial access window closes. The two deadlines must not be confused: the discount does not extend free trial play until October 18.

Prices shown on the Canadian Nintendo page are Canadian-store pricing, not a universal Australian or US price. Check your own region's store before treating a displayed figure as the amount you will pay. The same caution applies to subscription availability, since not all services and offers are available everywhere.

Nintendo Life independently reported the October 9 launch of the trial and its October 15 expiry, matching Nintendo's notice. For players deciding whether to buy, the practical move is to start the free member access early, make some genuine progress, and then decide before the discount expires. The island will still be there afterward; free trial access will not.
