GTA 5 collectibles: every set and what it unlocks

The collectibles in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) aren't just busywork. Each big set pays out cash, a unique vehicle or a chunk of your 100%. Here's what's worth your time.

The main sets

SetHow manyReward
Letter Scraps50A murder mystery, ending in a mission for Franklin
Spaceship Parts50The Space Docker car
Nuclear Waste30About $690,000
Stunt Jumps50An achievement

Letter Scraps

These are available from the start. Finding them all pieces together a confession about the murder of Leonora Johnson, and it unlocks a final mission for Franklin.

Spaceship Parts

Meet Omega first, then the parts appear on the map. Hand in all 50 and you'll get the Space Docker, one of the game's oddest vehicles.

Nuclear Waste

You need a submersible, so buy the Sonar Collections Dock for $250,000 first. Each barrel is worth about $23,000, and you get the money back and more.

Easier hunting

  • Grab Letter Scraps as you pass them. There's no reason to wait.
  • Use a fast motorbike for Stunt Jumps.
  • Use a helicopter to reach Spaceship Parts in the hills.
  • For exact spots, use an interactive map.

What else is hidden?

  • Monkey Mosaics: a set added in the newer versions.
  • Epsilon Tracts: part of Michael's Epsilon storyline.
  • Peyote Plants: let you play as animals.
  • Submarine Parts: found underwater.

Which set should you do first?

  1. Letter Scraps, as you can start right away.
  2. Stunt Jumps, whenever you pass one.
  3. Nuclear Waste, for the cash.
  4. Spaceship Parts last, once you've got a helicopter and plenty of time.

Do you need them all?

For 100% you need all the Letter Scraps and Spaceship Parts, but only 25 of the 50 Stunt Jumps. See our 100% guide for the rest.

Should you use a map?

Yes, unless you're enjoying the hunt. Many of these are tucked away on rooftops, under piers or high in the hills, and you could spend hours searching for the last few. Keep a list of what you've found. It's easy to lose track, and the game doesn't always make it clear which ones you've missed.

Does the order matter?

Only a little. Letter Scraps are open from the start, but Spaceship Parts wait until you've met Omega, and you'll need money for Nuclear Waste. Most players are better off leaving the big clean-up until after the story, when they can fly anywhere and money's no problem.
