Xbox's October indie showcase, run with IGN, was a long one, and Xbox Wire's October 20 recap makes it easier to sort. The dated highlights are A Game About Digging a Hole Together, coming to Game Pass on December 4, and Mouthwashing and The Wolf Among Us Remaster, both out on October 29. Shrek 2 Remastered is up for pre-order ahead of November 10, and Critical Reflex's Arctic Eggs is already out on Xbox Series X|S. The biggest reveal was Magenta Down, a sci-fi adventure from the makers of Unto The End, due in early 2027.
Showcases like this are easy to treat as a blur of trailers. The more useful way to read this one is by what's dated, what's on Game Pass, and what's still a window.
The dated releases
Five games have firm dates or are already out, according to Xbox:
- Arctic Eggs: available now on Series X|S, part of a run of Critical Reflex games heading to Xbox.
- Scramble Knights Online: October 26, on Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with Game Pass.
- Mouthwashing: October 29, on Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox One, with Game Pass.
- The Wolf Among Us Remaster: October 29 (digital), on Series X|S and Xbox One.
- Shrek 2 Remastered: November 10 on Series X|S, with pre-orders open and a pre-order discount for Game Pass members.
Then there's A Game About Digging a Hole Together, which Xbox lists for Series X|S and Xbox on PC and for Game Pass on December 4, 2026.
Game Pass, and the long tail
Pure Xbox counted eight showcase titles confirmed for Game Pass. Using Xbox's own windows, they include Croak (March 2027, day one), Drill Keeper (summer 2027, Xbox on PC), Mr. Magpie's Harmless Card Game (early 2027), Red Kiss (day one, "coming soon"), and No, I'm Not a Human (2027, Series X|S and Xbox One), alongside Mouthwashing, Scramble Knights Online and A Game About Digging a Hole Together. Where Pure Xbox and Xbox Wire disagree on a window, Xbox's own recap is the one to trust.
The rest of the show was a wide spread of 2027 releases without Game Pass confirmation so far: Chronoscript: The Endless End (summer 2027), Graytail (November 2027), Love is a Roguelite (fall 2027), Mr. Records (spring 2027), Rustown (June 30, 2027), VANRAN and Waveling Island (both early 2027), and ZERO PARADES: Director's Cut on November 3. Paper Shredder is listed only for "winter".
Xbox also said that many ID@Xbox games will support Xbox Play Anywhere at launch.
Why it matters
The pattern here is what Xbox's indie program does well. Here's the analysis: a showcase like this is less about one big announcement than about filling the calendar. It puts a steady run of smaller games in front of players, many of them with Game Pass attached and on PC as well as console. Mouthwashing is the clearest example. Arriving on Game Pass on October 29 puts it in front of a large audience at exactly the right moment for a horror game.
The open question is how many of the 2027 windows hold. Showcases are where windows are announced, not guaranteed, and some dates on a list this long may move. For now, the near-term picks are set: Scramble Knights Online on October 26, Mouthwashing and The Wolf Among Us on October 29, Shrek 2 on November 10, and a hole to dig with friends in December.
