Xbox's release calendar for the last week of October reads like a haunted-house program. Xbox Wire's October 23 list for October 26 to 30 runs to 50 games, and a striking share of them are horror. If you want something to play on Halloween, the problem this week won't be finding a game. It'll be choosing one.
The Game Pass three
Only three games in the list are tagged for Game Pass, and Xbox's own Game Pass post from October 20, reported by Pure Xbox the same day, gives the same dates:
- Scramble Knights Online (Game Preview), October 26: a multiplayer adventure, with Xbox Play Anywhere.
- The Séance of Blake Manor, October 27: a murder-mystery investigation set in 1897, also Play Anywhere.
- Terrible Lizards, October 29: survival horror set in 1992, with Smart Delivery and Play Anywhere.
Xbox doesn't tag the other 47 for Game Pass in this list. That doesn't mean none of them are on it, just that this post doesn't say, so check before assuming.
The horror wave
Here's where the week gets interesting. Xbox Wire's list is packed with horror and spooky-adjacent releases, including:
- Ayasa: Shadows of Silence (October 26), a wordless horror-puzzle journey.
- Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy (October 27), the final chapter of a horror trilogy.
- Treasure Tiger (October 27), five-night survival horror.
- Mouthwashing (October 29), up for pre-order at $12.99.
- HYPERVIOLENT (October 29), a retro-style FPS set on a mining asteroid.
- The Transference (October 29), a first-person escape-room thriller, $9.99 on pre-order, down from $12.49.
- Corner Shop: NightShift (October 30), convenience-store horror, $17.99 on pre-order, down from $19.99.
- Love Love Mystery Club (October 30), a horror dating sim set at a high school.
- The Night of the Exorcism (October 30), story-driven diagnosis horror.
There's also The Wolf Among Us Remastered on October 29, Telltale's noir adventure in a new edition.
The range is the striking part. From wordless puzzles to retro shooters to a dating sim, the week covers a lot of what "horror game" can mean in 2026.
And something for the nostalgic
Not everything is scary. Two retro returns stand out: Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos (October 29), the sequel to a classic platformer, and the Joe & Mac Retro Collection (October 29), bundling three classic caveman games at $17.99 on pre-order, down from $19.99. For something calmer, Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services (October 27) offers relaxing 2D pressure-washing. And a few more stand out from the list: Primal Planet (October 28), a solo-developed dinosaur metroidvania; SULFUR (October 28), a roguelike FPS with crafting and cooking; and The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem (October 29), a Dr. Seuss-themed game on pre-order at $39.99.
Here's the analysis. There's no big-budget headliner in this list. Instead it's a calendar of smaller releases, many of them with Xbox Play Anywhere or Smart Delivery, timed for a week when players are actively looking for something spooky. For players, that's a good week to try something new and cheap. For small studios, it's a crowded one.
Xbox hasn't published the following week's list yet, so for now this is the full confirmed calendar through October 30.
