PEAK has made the climb to Xbox. Aggro Crab and Landfall's co-op mountaineering game launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC on October 22, and the Xbox Store listing on Xbox Wire puts it at $9.99.

If you missed it on PC, PEAK is the game where you and your friends are lost scouts stranded on a mysterious island, and the only way out is up. In the developers' words on Xbox Wire, it's a climbing game "where the slightest mistake can spell your doom."

Why it's called a hit

The console date itself came from the developers. Aggro Crab announced on social media that PEAK was "(finally) coming to consoles on OCTOBER 22ND", Pure Xbox reported on October 16, and the Xbox Wire post confirmed the launch on the day.

The game itself isn't new. Pure Xbox notes it first launched on PC in June 2025, and its reception since has been the reason people kept asking for a console version. As Pure Xbox reported when the Xbox date was announced, the game has almost 150,000 user reviews on Steam, with 95% of them positive, enough for an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating.

The appeal is easy to picture. You clamber up ledges, place ropes and spikes, scavenge for food and try to survive the climb together, and in a game this unforgiving, one friend's misstep can be the end of a run for the whole group.

What you get on Xbox

Here's the Xbox version, as Aggro Crab's Paige Wilson describes it on Xbox Wire:

  • Play your way: solo, or online co-op with up to three friends, plus offline single player.
  • Crossplay: form a scout troop with friends across multiple platforms.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere: play on console and PC "at no additional cost".
  • A changing mountain: a map that changes every day, across four biomes, each with its own hazards.
  • Everything so far: all content updates, including additional biomes, cosmetics and features, are included.
  • The social bits: proximity chat, badges and character customization.

The post's motto sums up the tone: "Never abandon a friend in need." The other one, "The Mountain Takes no Prisoners!", sums up how often you'll need to.

One thing the post doesn't mention is Game Pass. Treat PEAK as a straight purchase unless Xbox says otherwise.

Worth the climb?

At $9.99, with crossplay to bring in friends on other platforms and Play Anywhere covering both your console and PC, the Xbox version removes most of the reasons not to try it. The daily map also gives a group a reason to come back without anyone having to plan a session.

The one caution is the same as on PC: PEAK is at its best with friends. Solo and offline play are there, but co-op is where the chaos lives. If your group has been waiting for the console version, that wait is over.

Aggro Crab's Xbox Wire post doesn't announce what's next for the game. For now, the mountain is open on Xbox.
