How to play Minesweeper

Minesweeper is a game of deduction disguised as a game of risk. Numbered cells tell you exactly how many mines touch that square, so strong play is about combining local clues, marking certainty and refusing to guess while deterministic information is still available.

Objective

Reveal every safe cell without opening a mine. Use the numbers around cleared cells to identify forced safe spaces and forced mine positions.

Controls

  • Reveal a covered cell with the primary action.
  • Flag a cell when the surrounding numbers prove it must contain a mine.
  • Use touch-friendly controls carefully: confirm whether the current action reveals or flags before committing.

Strategy tips

  • Start from confirmed information and expand outward; do not scan the whole board at once.
  • If a numbered cell already touches the required number of flags, every other covered neighbour is safe.
  • If the number of covered neighbours equals the mines still required by a clue, those neighbours are all mines.
