How to play Snake

Snake becomes difficult because every successful pickup removes future space. The important skill is route planning: food is useful, but open board area is the real resource. Fast reactions help less than keeping an exit path available.

Objective

Collect food to grow while avoiding the walls and your own body. As the snake lengthens, shape your route so that every turn still leaves somewhere safe to go next.

Controls

  • Use Arrow keys or the game's touch controls to change direction.
  • Plan turns one input early instead of correcting at the last instant.
  • Restart after a crash and compare how much open space your route preserved.

Strategy tips

  • Avoid cutting the board in half with your own body unless you already know how you will reconnect the spaces.
  • Use the outer edges deliberately; they are predictable but offer fewer escape directions.
  • When the board gets crowded, prioritise a safe loop over the shortest route to food.
