Dungeons II
Minecraft Dungeons II vs Minecraft Dungeons: what's new
Minecraft Dungeons II is not just more levels. Mojang rebuilt how the world, gear and enchanting work. Here is everything that changed from the first game, in plain English.

The short version
- A connected world instead of separate missions picked from a map table.
- Quests: main quests and side quests, with rewards.
- 12 combat slots instead of 6.
- Four-piece armour: helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.
- Talismans, a new kind of gear with passive bonuses.
- Jumping, for exploring and for attacks from above.
- Unlimited ammunition: arrows recharge on their own.
- An enchantment library you choose from, instead of relying on the luck of each drop.
An open, connected world
In the first Minecraft Dungeons you picked a mission from the camp's map table and played a level with a clear start and end. Minecraft Dungeons II lets you travel across large regions with settlements, structures, events and fast-travel hubs, and some caves and ruins change their layout between visits. There's a world map, and you can teleport to a nearby friend.
The story moves between the Overworld and a new dimension called the Sift, reached through rifts that are opening across the world.
Gear and builds
Combat slots go from 6 to 12, so a build has room for more weapons, armour, artifacts and talismans. Armour is now four separate pieces, and items can roll random effects, so two of the same item can feel different.
Ranged weapons no longer eat arrows: ammunition is unlimited and recharges over time.
Enchanting, reworked
Enchantment books you find join a personal library. At the enchantsmith you apply an enchantment from your library to the gear slot you choose. You plan a build instead of hoping the right enchantment drops on the right item.
Do I need to play the first game?
No. Mojang says you don't need to have played Minecraft Dungeons first, though returning players will spot references. Playing both on the same Microsoft account does unlock the Hero Cape.
