Cayo Perico solo: how to do GTA Online's best solo heist
The Cayo Perico Heist can be done completely solo in Grand Theft Auto Online, and that's why it's still one of the best big paydays. It just shouldn't be the only thing you do.

What you need
- The Kosatka submarine, GTA$2,200,000 at base price.
- To meet Miguel Madrazo in the Music Locker beneath the casino, which unlocks the purchase.
- GTA$100,000 to start the heist setup.
A solo run, step by step
- Start the setup from the Kosatka.
- Scout the island to find guards and loot.
- Do the prep missions.
- Grab the main target and as much secondary loot as your bag holds.
- Escape, and collect your cut.
The cooldown
After a solo run you'll wait about 144 real minutes before you can do it again. Use that time for your other businesses and weekly bonuses.
How much does it pay?
It varies with the target. Rockstar has reduced the values more than once, most recently in July 2026, so be wary of old claims. It's still strong, but it's no longer a guaranteed huge payday every time.
Tips for a clean run
- Spend time on the scouting mission, as it lets you plan your route.
- Take what fills your bag with the most valuable loot first.
- Try for stealth. It's quicker and safer than a shoot-out.
- Don't rush your first run. Learn the island, then get faster.
Fill the cooldown
| While you wait | Why |
|---|---|
| Restock your Acid Lab | Keeps income running |
| Do weekly bonuses | Often the best pay of the week |
| Run Agency contracts | Solo-friendly work |
Is it still worth it?
Yes, especially as your first big payday, although it's no longer the only method worth doing. Think of it as the centre of your routine, not your whole evening.
Can friends help?
Yes, and they share the work. The solo cooldown is also longer than the group one, as reported by guides, so it's worth inviting friends if you've got them.
Your first run: what to expect
Your first attempt will be slow, as you've got a lot to learn: the setup missions, the layout of the compound, and where the guards walk. That's normal. Do it once without worrying about the bonus, then try to improve your route. Most players get much faster after two or three runs, and setup becomes routine.
