The rules
- 3 to 20 characters.
- Only letters, numbers and the underscore (_).
- At most one underscore, and not at the start or end.
- Roblox also filters names for safety, and each name can belong to only one account, so a popular idea may be taken. Adding a number usually helps.
Username or display name?
Your display name is what most players see. It is free to change once every seven days and doesn't have to be unique. Your username is unique, and changing it costs Robux. Other players can still find your old usernames.
Rules checked against Roblox's sign-up checker and its Help Centre articles on usernames and display names, 30 October 2026. We can't check whether a name is free: Roblox does that when you sign up or change your name.
