Parents
Roblox parental controls: a parent's quick guide
Roblox gives parents real controls over content, chat, spending and screen time. You can manage them from your own account or directly on your child's device.
Two ways to manage controls
- Link your Roblox account to your child's. You manage settings from your own device and get emails about their activity.
- Use Parent mode on your child's device. No Roblox account needed, and you can change most settings there. Real-time alerts, like spending notifications, need a linked account.
Where to find them
- Open Settings: the gear icon on desktop, or More, then Settings on mobile.
- Choose Parental controls and select your child's account.
- Scroll to Settings you manage.
What you can control
| Area | What it does |
|---|---|
| Content | Choose a maturity level, block or allow specific games |
| Chat | Choose who your child can chat and party with |
| Spending | Monthly spending limit, notifications and Robux transfers |
| Screen time | Daily limit, plus the games they play most |
| Friends and privacy | Trusted friends, blocking and who can see their activity |
Content maturity levels
Games rated Content May Vary are not available to children under 9.
| Label | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Minimal | Occasional mild violence or mild fear |
| Mild | Repeated mild violence, heavy unrealistic blood, mild crude humour |
| Moderate | Moderate violence or fear, light realistic blood, crude humour |
| Restricted | Strong violence, realistic blood, strong language; age-checked 18+ only |
As your child gets older
- From 13, your child manages their own screen time and blocking, and spending limits no longer apply.
- From 16, you only manage notifications, spending notifications and activity updates.
