Roblox IDs explained: asset, decal, audio and game IDs
Almost everything on Roblox, from a decal to a song to a whole game, has a unique number. That number is its ID.
What is a Roblox ID?
Roblox stores images, audio, meshes, clothing and games as assets in the cloud, and every asset gets a unique number. In Roblox Studio you point an object at an asset with that number, written as rbxassetid:// followed by the ID.
Where to find an ID
- Items and clothing: open the item's page on the Roblox website. The number in the address bar is its ID.
- Games: the number after /games/ in a game's web address is that place's ID.
- Your own uploads: open the asset in the Creator Dashboard and copy its ID.
- In Studio: Asset Manager and the Toolbox both show IDs you can copy.
Using an ID in Studio
- Select a Decal, Texture, image label or Audio Player.
- Find its image or audio property in the Properties window.
- Paste rbxassetid:// and the number, then press Enter.
You can only use audio and images you have permission to use. Your own uploads and items offered for use in the Creator Store are safe choices.
