Warzone moves to Modern Warfare 4 on November 6 with Hajin, Zodiac and Tactical Sprint for all

Season 1 brings Hajin and Zodiac to Warzone, parks Verdansk and Rebirth Island until later in the season, and gives everyone Tactical Sprint without a Perk.

Warzone gets its yearly reset this week. When Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live on November 6, Call of Duty: Warzone moves under this year's game, swaps in two new maps and picks up Modern Warfare 4's weapons, perks and movement.

The headline points come straight from Activision. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, the publisher said Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live on November 6 and that the update brings both Hajin and Zodiac to Warzone, "with additional game modes, gameplay features, and more." That post promised a full Warzone roadmap later. The fuller Warzone details followed in Activision's own Season 1 announcement on the Call of Duty blog, which Destructoid points readers to. Xarmo couldn't check that post directly, so everything below about the roadmap is credited to the outlets that reported it.

Two new maps, two old ones parked

Hajin is the new big Battle Royale map. Windows Central says it's set across North and South Korea and appears to be the same physical map DMZ players already know, with DMZ's variable weather carried over and two new Gulags. Dexerto counts 13 major points of interest, and Destructoid notes it's the seventh large-scale map to host Battle Royale since Warzone launched in 2020.

Zodiac takes over Resurgence. Windows Central describes it as a map built around a drone manufacturing facility in South Korea, already seen during the Modern Warfare 4 beta. Dexerto puts it at 10 named locations.

That means Verdansk and Rebirth Island aren't there on day one. Both return later in Season 1, according to Windows Central, Destructoid and Dexerto, and Dexerto says no exact date has been announced. Dexerto reports that Verdansk will come back with new locations, including the Signal Station, Grazna-7 Launch Complex, the Overlook skyscraper and Drone Labs, while Rebirth Island gets new waterways and hidden passages.

What changes in a match

Windows Central lists the quality-of-life changes arriving with Season 1:

  • Tactical Sprint for every Operator without a Perk, though its duration is slightly shorter.
  • Dragging allies while you revive them, to pull them out of the line of fire.
  • More weapon balancing, better visibility across maps and improved footstep audio.
  • Elite Perks, a fourth perk slot found at Buy Stations or earned through Supply Run contracts, with only one active at a time.
  • Movable objects on Hajin, Zodiac and Verdansk, such as fuel barrels that explode and dumpsters you can use as cover.

Destructoid adds a Zipline Launcher field upgrade and says Modern Warfare 4's guns become the main loot pool for Battle Royale and Resurgence. Older weapons don't vanish. Destructoid says guns from Modern Warfare 2 (2022) through Black Ops 7 stay usable but can't be edited in Gunsmith, and Windows Central says they'll be available as five-attachment versions alongside blueprints you already own.

Modes and the camo grind

Windows Central reports that casual mode returns for both Battle Royale and Resurgence on every map. Three limited-time modes are live at launch:

  • Rally Point, a 20-player, no-circle, drop-in mode with infinite respawns, aimed at new and returning players.
  • Loaded Resurgence, across Zodiac and Rebirth Island.
  • Massive Resurgence, which puts 120 players on Hajin.

Rockets and Snipers and Extreme Resurgence are promised later in the season. The Warzone Mode Mastery camos are steep, by Windows Central's account: Parallax asks for five kills in a match 300 times, and Empyros wants a top-five finish with at least six kills 75 times.

Who loses out

Windows Central says the switch to Modern Warfare 4 also ends Warzone on Xbox One and PS4. Season 1 goes live at midnight ET on November 6, which is 9 pm Pacific on November 5.

Jax's take: The change I'd watch is Tactical Sprint without a Perk. It should free up a loadout slot for a lot of players, and with Elite Perks on top, the first week of Hajin loadouts could look very different from DMZ's. If you've been away, Rally Point is the obvious place to learn the new movement before you drop into a full lobby.
