Call of Duty: Mobile's next season has been shaped by player voting. Season 9 — Vampires vs Werewolves launches on October 14 at 5 p.m. PT as the game's first community-voted season, with players having selected both the theme and designs used for Battle Pass Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints.

Activision's October 7 announcement also confirms a new Multiplayer variant, a faction event and the Grav Assault Rifle. None of that is live yet: October 14 is the start date, so this is an upcoming-season announcement rather than a launch-day recap.

Leader's Kill Confirmed puts one player in the spotlight

The new limited-time Leader's Kill Confirmed mode modifies the usual dog-tag loop by designating one player on each team as the Leader. That player uses a mech-equipped Operator and is visible to both teams, making them an obvious target as well as something teammates have to protect.

When a Leader is eliminated, the dropped tag is worth more points and the role passes to another teammate. Regular Operators can also gain special abilities during the match, so the mode is built around deciding when to chase the high-value target and when to keep your own Leader alive.

The seasonal Fang Wars event makes the vampire-versus-werewolf vote playable. Players choose a faction, complete missions and contribute to the wider contest. Activision lists faction-specific weapon blueprints among the rewards, while both sides can earn shared milestone items. The winning side gets a gold version of its faction calling card.

The community vote reaches the Battle Pass

Season 9's Battle Pass carries player-voted Operator and weapon designs alongside the new Grav Assault Rifle. The Grav sits on the free track, so unlocking the season's new base weapon is not limited to the paid pass.

The premium track adds more themed cosmetics, while the store has its own Halloween draws, reruns and sale. Those items make up a lot of the announcement, but they are secondary to the actual seasonal systems: the voted theme, Leader's Kill Confirmed, Fang Wars and the new rifle.

Activision is also adding an optional pre-download path through the in-game Download Manager. The point is to let players fetch Season 9 resources before the update becomes mandatory, reducing the amount that has to be pulled down when the season starts. It is an installation convenience, not early access to Season 9.

The same official mobile news index lists Season 9 as the current upcoming seasonal announcement, which is a useful cross-check against older Season 9 pages from previous years. Call of Duty: Mobile reuses season numbers, so the 2026 date and the Vampires vs Werewolves subtitle matter.

That distinction matters on October 8. The season is announced, the theme and content are known, and players can prepare for the download, but the vampire-versus-werewolf fight does not begin until October 14 at 5 p.m. PT.

For a live-service game that has done plenty of Halloween events, the genuinely new hook is the voting. This time the community did not just choose a reward after the fact; Activision says player votes shaped the season's theme and Battle Pass designs before launch.
