Warframe's Taubound Event Begins October 15 With a Community Mission to Tau

Digital Extremes is opening a one-time community operation on Eris, while a related Tau prologue remains available permanently.

Warframe is asking its players to fuel a journey that no individual Tenno can complete alone. Epoch Operation: Taubound starts October 15 and runs through November 17, Digital Extremes says, with participants fighting on Eris to collect a special resource called Moonflesh. The resource feeds the Sentient Mothership Praghasa and can be exchanged for event rewards.

That sounds like another Warframe activity, but the clock changes the stakes. Digital Extremes describes this as a one-time community event, with no planned rerun. It is separate from a permanent story quest also arriving on October 15, a distinction that is easy to miss when both announcements share the same trip toward the Tau System.

How the community operation works

The official event guide says completing any mission on Eris during the operation grants Moonflesh. Players can trade it to Praghasa for rewards, including cosmetic items such as an armour set, Syandana and Amp skin. Xbox Wire's guest post from Digital Extremes also lists additional collectables: Honoria, Somachords, glyphs, sigils, decorative Floofs, badges, blueprints and related items.

Praghasa also delivers daily narrative messages. Digital Extremes singles out that dialogue as an event-only element. Someone who waits until December might still follow the broader Warframe story, but should not assume the same temporary interactions or event rewards will return. The distinction is grounded in the developer's published terms, not a prediction about future live-service decisions.

Accessibility has been widened for the operation. During Taubound, completing Vor's Prize is enough to unlock access to Eris for the event; normal Star Chart and Junction progression requirements are temporarily lifted for this purpose. That does not erase the rest of Warframe's normal quest sequence or give a newcomer every piece of endgame content. It simply makes the special community activity reachable with an earlier prerequisite.

The activity is designed to be collective. Each completed Eris mission contributes to the event's larger purpose of giving Praghasa enough fuel for the voyage. Players can approach that through the normal Warframe combat and mission systems, but the official sources do not support predicting how quickly the wider community will finish or what any particular player will receive without checking the in-game reward tables.

The Tau prologue is a different commitment

Prologue to Tau, the cinematic quest added to the Codex on October 15, is not subject to the November 17 removal date. Digital Extremes says it is a permanent addition. It introduces narrative material for the journey ahead and includes a segment involving the Lotus and the player's Vessel, but it does not share Taubound's Moonflesh rewards or daily event dialogue.

The prerequisite list is significantly different. To play the permanent prologue, you must first finish The Hex and The Old Peace quests. Completing Vor's Prize alone allows access to the time-limited operation, not immediate entry to the new cinematic prologue. Players who want both experiences will need to keep two progress tracks in mind.

For returning Tenno, the most practical move is to prioritise the expiring operation and inspect its reward exchanges before November 17. For newcomers, the event access exception creates a chance to take part without rushing through several narrative arcs. The permanent prologue can remain a longer-term goal.

That is the heart of this announcement: a limited community milestone paired with a lasting story chapter. Warframe is moving toward Tau, but not every part of the journey comes with the same deadline.
