The Belmont family has another date with Dracula's legacy. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse releases on October 15, bringing Konami's side-scrolling action-exploration series back with Rose Belmont as the central hunter. The setting is Paris in 1499, a city engulfed by a supernatural catastrophe, and the game builds its battles around the family’s familiar Vampire Killer whip.

There is a lot riding on that familiar weapon, but this is not simply a return to a decades-old control scheme. The official descriptions introduce Arcana powers that Rose can obtain through confrontations with formidable enemies, expanding her ways to move through dangerous spaces and respond to attacks.

What the new Belmont can do

Rose is travelling through a Paris overtaken by creatures and fire. The game's official pitch emphasises dangerous environments, demanding combat and exploration, the combination that has long defined Castlevania's side-scrolling adventures. It is a new story within the franchise rather than a remaster of a particular 1990s release.

The Vampire Killer whip remains a signature weapon, useful for combat and interacting with parts of the environment. Konami also highlights Arcana powers obtained from major bosses. The powers are part of Rose's growing toolkit, but neither the publisher's announcement nor the product page allows us to rank their effectiveness before playing the released game.

The game has been developed with Evil Empire, with Motion Twin involved in an advisory role. Those names may be familiar to people following modern action platformers, but the credit should not be stretched into a claim that Belmont's Curse plays exactly like any other title associated with those studios. It is still a distinct Castlevania product.

Players looking at editions should pay attention to the distinction between game content and extras. Konami lists a Standard Edition containing the main game and a Midnight Edition that adds a separate digital art and sound gallery, three in-game bonuses and additional themed items. The gallery is presented as a separate application, not another playable campaign.

The store also mentions an Alucard Style Costume as an early-purchase or preorder benefit under the applicable conditions. That is a bonus to verify on the specific product page, not something to assume will be added free to every purchase forever.

Platforms and purchase details

The official product page dates the game to October 15, 2026 and lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and Nintendo Switch versions. Buyers should check which hardware and region are shown on their local storefront, especially when comparing platform-specific performance and storage requirements.

Konami's technical listing indicates 60 frames per second on its listed versions apart from the original Nintendo Switch edition, which is specified at 30 frames per second. The figures are product specifications, not evidence that the game holds those rates under every scene or that a particular system performs differently in a hands-on test.

Likewise, the listed download capacity changes by edition and platform. A large Midnight Edition file can reflect its gallery and bonuses; it does not necessarily mean the playable adventure has more levels than the Standard Edition. The official product table is the right place to check an accurate number before allocating storage.

For returning Castlevania fans, the tangible news is a new Belmont, a historically framed Paris adventure and more flexible boss-derived powers. For newcomers, the simplest decision is whether the base game interests them, then whether the additional gallery and cosmetics justify the Midnight Edition. The release details are firm; any verdict on combat or difficulty should come after genuine play, not from announcement copy.
