Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027, Square Enix has announced, bringing the next chapter of the remake project to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The September 3 reveal also showed a wider set of exploration and combat systems for the party's journey beyond Rebirth.

The headline traversal addition is the Highwind. Square Enix describes the airship as a way to explore a vast open world rather than simply selecting destinations from a disconnected menu.

FITS adds another layer to party building

Revelation introduces the FITS class system, which adds roles and abilities on top of the established combat framework. Official material presents FITS as a new way to shape characters rather than replacing their existing identities with fixed traditional classes.

Dynamic character switching is another confirmed change. Players will be able to move between party members more freely during combat, potentially making the composition of an encounter feel less tied to one controlled character at a time. The announcement establishes the feature; it does not tell us how every encounter will be balanced around it.

Grappling also expands traversal. The reveal shows the party using new movement options in more vertical spaces, while the Highwind opens the broader world layer.

Piko and Queen's Blood are returning parts of the journey

Piko returns as a chocobo companion with a larger role in both traversal and battle. Square Enix says the companion can grow stronger alongside the party and gain new capabilities.

Queen's Blood is returning too. The card game became one of Rebirth's most visible side activities, and its inclusion shows that Revelation is carrying forward systems beyond the main combat loop. Square Enix has not reduced the next game to a simple list of new mechanics layered on a fresh map; it is continuing several strands from the previous chapter.

The multi-platform launch is significant as well. Revelation is currently confirmed for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Square Enix listing Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC. Platform-specific performance details have not been established by the reveal, so those comparisons should wait for later technical information.

None of the September footage is hands-on evidence about final balance, pacing or world density. It confirms features, platforms and release timing. The useful facts are therefore the announced systems rather than a verdict on how well they work.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027. Between the Highwind, FITS classes, more flexible character switching, grappling, Piko and another round of Queen's Blood, Square Enix is clearly positioning the game as an expansion of the remake project's systems as well as its story.

The date announcement also gives the project a firm next milestone after years of speculation about the final chapter's timing. Pre-order editions and bonuses exist around the launch, but they do not change the base release date or the confirmed platform list. For players mainly interested in the game itself, April 8 is the useful anchor; edition-specific extras can be evaluated separately rather than mixed into the description of the core systems revealed in the gameplay presentation.
