EA Sports FC 27's 10-hour EA Play trial is now live, giving eligible players a limited slice of this year's football game before the worldwide launch on September 25. On Xbox, the trial is available across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox on PC for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members who receive EA Play access.
EA says progress from the trial carries into the full game if players decide to buy it. Ten hours is enough to sample the big changes
The trial is capped at 10 hours, so it makes sense to treat it as a sampler rather than the start of a full season. EA and Xbox are using the window to highlight The Grounds, the new social football space, alongside broader gameplay changes and updates to Ultimate Team and Career.
The Grounds is pitched as a place for Kickabouts, one-on-one matches and Clubs play, with progression and cosmetic expression wrapped around a more casual social space. EA's launch update also points to community-driven gameplay changes, including adjustments to attacking awareness, defending and set pieces, while Ultimate Team and Career receive their own launch-season systems and content.
Because the clock is limited, players who only want to check performance, controls or a favourite mode should keep an eye on how long the trial is actually running. EA Play trials typically count active game time rather than simply expiring after a fixed calendar window, but leaving the game open unnecessarily is still a poor use of a 10-hour allowance.
Progress carries over if you stay
The useful part of this trial is that it is not a disconnected demo. Xbox Wire says progression carries into the full game, so time spent building a club, learning The Grounds or starting a Career does not have to be repeated if you continue with FC 27.
EA Play members also receive a discount of up to 10% on the full game and eligible EA digital purchases, while EA's launch materials list recurring member rewards such as Ultimate Team Draft Tokens. Those benefits are separate from the trial itself, and the exact value depends on whether you were already planning to buy.
The full worldwide launch is scheduled for September 25 on consoles, with EA's published launch schedule placing the PC worldwide release late on September 24 UTC. Players using the trial therefore have roughly a week to decide whether this year's changes justify continuing.
