Stellar Blade Complete Edition is out on Nintendo Switch 2, and owners on the other platforms got a present too. Shift Up's launch update adds a set of Bayonetta outfits, and it's free on PS5 and PC as well.

Switch 2 players have one more thing to look at before they get stuck in: a frame generation option in the Display settings.

What's in the launch update

Shift Up's 1.5.0 patch notes on Steam, posted on 5 November, list the full Bayonetta collection for PC:

  • Four Nanosuits: Couture Bullet (Bayonetta), Couture Bullet (Jeanne), Couture Bullet (Nun) and Couture Bullet (Black Tresses)
  • Two pairs of glasses: Bayonetta's Glasses and Nun's Glasses
  • Two pairs of earrings: Bayonetta's Earrings and Jeanne's Earrings

4Gamer reports that the four outfits are a free update on PC and PS5. Siliconera reports that Black Tresses is the entirely new design, created by Shift Up's Kim Hyung Tae.

The PC notes also cover a batch of fixes. The side quest "A United People Cannot be Defeated" no longer stalls after you collect two Memory Sticks, Emil no longer gets stuck on a cliff in the southern Wasteland, and EVE's hairstyle shows up properly in the Equipment and Repair Console screens. With Steam Input on, Steam Deck button icons and controller images now match the connected controller.

The Switch 2 setting to check

We could read the PC notes directly, but the console details here come from Siliconera's summary of Shift Up's notes. It says the Switch 2 version lets you turn Frame Generation on or off in Display, runs more stably and has some graphical bugs fixed.

That toggle has a history. Nintendo Life reported in September that frame generation was mandatory in the Switch 2 demo, and that Shift Up then said it would add a toggle at release after watching player feedback.

On PS5, Siliconera lists fixes for the same Emil, hairstyle and quest issues, and both consoles get a corrected Adam entry in the Data Bank.

What the Switch 2 version costs

Gematsu reported the pricing when the date was announced in September: $59.99, £54.99, €59.99 or ¥7,980.

The launch report from Japanese outlet 4Gamer says Shift Up released the game on 6 November, sold it on the Nintendo eShop at 7,980 yen including tax, and that it carries a CERO D rating. Siliconera's report, published on 5 November, says the game and crossover are available worldwide.

It's the first time Stellar Blade has appeared on a Nintendo console, according to 4Gamer, which adds that the game supports Joy-Con 2 motion controls for activities outside combat. There's also a demo on the eShop covering the opening story and battles.

The Complete Edition includes the earlier collaboration DLC. Per 4Gamer, the NieR:Automata content adds an Emil shop with 2B and A2 outfits for EVE, a 9S outfit for Lily and an Emil head piece for Adam. The Goddess of Victory: Nikke content adds a boss fight that rewards EVE with a new outfit, hairstyle and song, plus a shooting range minigame, a new shop and collectibles you can fish up.

Jax's take: The free outfits will grab the headlines, but the toggle is the bit I'd actually use. Open Display before you settle into the first boss and pick the option that suits you, because how a game feels is worth more than a new suit. Still, giving PS5 and PC owners the whole set for nothing is a nice touch from Shift Up.
