Sony has confirmed October's PlayStation Plus Monthly Games: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 will be available to members from October 6 through November 2.

The platform split is worth checking before hitting download. Sony lists F1 25 for PS5, Hunt: Showdown 1896 for PS5, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 for both PS5 and PS4. These are Monthly Games, not additions to the separate PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, so the announcement applies to the monthly claim benefit across eligible membership tiers.

October's three games cover very different ground

F1 25 is EA's Formula 1 game for the 2025 championship season, built around the official teams and circuits. Its inclusion gives PS5 subscribers a current racing option rather than an older back-catalogue entry.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is Crytek's extraction shooter, where teams enter hostile maps to hunt targets while competing with other players. Sony lists only the PS5 version in this Monthly Games promotion, which matters for members still using PS4 hardware.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the broader-platform pick. Sony's announcement includes both PS5 and PS4 versions, bringing the voxel-styled EDF spin-off to subscribers across the two console generations still represented by PlayStation Plus.

The three games become claimable on October 6 and remain available through November 2. As with other Monthly Games, adding an eligible title to your library during the claim window is the important step; access then follows the PlayStation Plus rules attached to the account and membership.

September's claim window closes first

There is one nearer deadline. Sony says members have until October 5 to add September's Monthly Games before the October lineup takes over.

That makes the end of September's cycle more urgent than the October 6 start if there is anything in the current lineup you still want attached to your account. The safest routine is to add wanted Monthly Games to the library before the rollover instead of assuming you can return to them after the catalogue changes.

Regional availability can vary, and Sony's own store remains the final check for what an individual account can claim. The announcement also should not be read as a review of the three games: inclusion in the subscription says nothing by itself about whether F1 25, Hunt or World Brothers 2 will suit a particular player.

For October, the value proposition is unusually easy to parse. PS5 members get all three advertised games, while PS4 members should pay particular attention to the platform labels because only Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is listed for PS4 in Sony's announcement.

The new Monthly Games window opens October 6. Before then, October 5 is the date to remember for any unfinished September claims.

There is also a difference between claiming a Monthly Game and buying it. PlayStation Plus access is tied to the membership conditions, while a purchased copy remains a separate entitlement. Sony's announcement is about the subscription claim window, so anyone planning around long-term ownership should not treat adding a game through Plus as the same transaction as purchasing it outright.
