Insomniac has put much clearer names around the systems driving Marvel's Wolverine. A new features trailer and PlayStation Blog breakdown explain how Rage, Adaptations and Special Techniques fit into Logan's combat, while also confirming the replay and accessibility features planned around the September 15 PS5 release.
This is still pre-release material rather than a hands-on verdict, but it gives a better map of what players will actually be managing once the claws come out.
Rage has three tiers, and Adaptations tune the build
PlayStation Blog describes Rage as a three-tier pool built around survivability, resilience and fury. The basic idea is that Logan's aggression does more than add damage: the Rage system is designed to help him stay alive and keep pressure on enemies as a fight escalates.
Adaptations sit alongside that system as customisation choices. Insomniac says there are dozens of them, with examples that can improve bullet absorption, make Rage more effective, widen parry windows or change how enemies react during combat. That gives the system a clearer role than a simple linear stat tree: the stated aim is to let players tune how Logan maintains momentum.
Techniques add another layer. Players can unlock combat moves and equip four rechargeable Special Techniques at once. Insomniac names Tornado Spin, Knee Breaker and Spiral Strike among the examples in the new breakdown.
Independent coverage from PlayStation Universe also confirms the September 15 release and the presence of New Game Plus in the new features video.
New Game Plus and Mission Replay are part of the launch package
Insomniac says Logan's Nightmare Cabin acts as the home for several replay features. New Game Plus raises level caps and adds exclusive Techniques, while Mission Replay allows sections of the story to be revisited. Nightmare Challenges are built around chasing higher scores.
Photo Mode is also planned for launch day, although PlayStation Blog specifies that it arrives through a day-one update and therefore requires an internet connection and PlayStation account for that update.
That is a fairly complete replay package to have confirmed before release. It also avoids the common ambiguity around whether a New Game Plus mode is coming later: Insomniac is explicitly presenting it as available at launch.
Accessibility gets a large feature set too
The same post says Marvel's Wolverine includes more than 100 new, returning and improved accessibility features drawn from Insomniac's previous work. Named examples include High Contrast visuals, English Audio Description, Global Game Speed and Strong Haptic Signals.
Because the game is built around deliberately graphic Wolverine combat, Insomniac is also adding controls for violence and adult language. The studio says players can alter dynamic blood and dismemberment and filter English-language profanity.
Those options sit alongside the combat systems rather than changing the central pitch. Marvel's Wolverine is still being presented as an aggressive close-range action game; the new information simply makes its progression, replay and presentation controls easier to understand before launch.
Marvel's Wolverine is due September 15, 2026 exclusively on PlayStation 5. Until reviewers and players have the final build, details such as balance and long-term build variety remain things to assess after release rather than conclusions to draw from a features trailer.
