Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is now available on PS5, bundling the original campaign with the Legends multiplayer mode and two major additions: the narrative expansion Echoes of Sekigahara and the roguelike combat mode Most Wanted.
PlayStation marked the October 2 Australian anniversary window with a new interview featuring Atsu actor Erika Ishii, while the Complete Edition itself launched globally on October 1 with regional timing extending into October 2.
The useful part for players is what the package actually includes, because not every update is locked behind the paid edition.
Two major additions anchor the Complete Edition
Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu's story with a narrative split between the present and flashbacks to her time on the mainland.
Most Wanted takes a different approach. It is a single-player survival mode designed around repeated combat runs rather than another conventional story chapter.
Those additions sit alongside the existing campaign and Ghost of Yōtei Legends multiplayer.
PlayStation's October 2 interview focuses heavily on Ishii's return to Atsu and the process of recording the expansion after the original game. That gives the anniversary post a clearer purpose than a simple re-release announcement: the Complete Edition is arriving with substantial new material rather than just collecting previously released cosmetics.
Existing owners have a cheaper upgrade path
Sucker Punch previously announced a Complete Edition Upgrade for players who already own Ghost of Yōtei.
The upgrade was priced at $14.99 USD and adds access to Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, alongside the other Complete Edition content. That matters because existing owners do not need to buy the full game again to reach the new paid material.
Regional pricing can vary, so the US price should not be treated as a universal local price.
Some October changes are free
The October update also includes features for players who do not purchase the Complete Edition upgrade.
PlayStation says all Ghost of Yōtei owners receive the Beauty of Yōtei mode, new tracks for Watanabe Mode, an option to keep one armour set's appearance while using another set's statistics, and a new high-contrast accessibility option.
That separation is important. The narrative expansion and Most Wanted are part of the paid Complete Edition path, while several quality-of-life and presentation changes arrive through the free update.
One year later
The October 2 PlayStation interview frames the release around the first anniversary of Ghost of Yōtei and Ishii's return as Atsu.
For players deciding what changed, the simplest breakdown is this: the Complete Edition packages the base game, Legends and the two new major additions; existing owners can upgrade; and a separate free patch adds several features for everyone.
That is more useful than treating "Complete Edition" as one undifferentiated bundle.
The anniversary also makes the timing unusually neat. Ghost of Yōtei is not being replaced by a sequel or a remaster after a year. Instead, Sucker Punch is extending the same PS5 game with a new story chapter, a repeatable combat mode and a set of free improvements, while keeping the original campaign at the centre.
For returning players, that makes the upgrade decision easier to understand.
