Luma Island is coming to PS5 with four-player cross-platform co-op

Luma Island is coming to PS5 with four-player online play and cross-platform support across PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Luma Island is heading to PlayStation 5, bringing its mix of farming, exploration and co-op to another console. Developer Feel Free Games announced the PS5 version through PlayStation Blog and says players will be able to adventure together across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

There is no confirmed PS5 release date yet. The game can be wishlisted on PlayStation Store, so this is a platform announcement rather than a launch-day story.

Four players can share the same island

Luma Island can be played solo or with up to four players online. Feel Free Games says groups can build together, share resources, explore the island and take on challenges without being locked to the same hardware family.

Cross-platform play is an important part of the PS5 announcement because it reduces the usual problem of a co-op group being split across console and PC. The developer specifically lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC for cross-platform play.

The game begins with an old caravan and a rundown farm, but farming is only one part of its structure. Players can grow crops, raise animals, decorate, choose from eight professions and hatch magical companions called Lumas. Away from the farm, the island includes forests, mountains, jungles, caves, temples, puzzles, traps and hidden treasure.

Pirate Cove adds its own exploration spaces, minigames and challenges. The overall pitch is that players can move between relaxed routines and more active exploration rather than being pushed into one loop all the time.

Difficulty settings are designed for different kinds of groups

Feel Free Games says the PS5 version includes the same three difficulty choices: Cozy, Adventure and Hero. Cozy Mode removes mandatory combat, although players can still choose to fight. Adventure and Hero modes add more challenge.

That flexibility makes sense for a game trying to support mixed-experience co-op groups. One player may want to focus on decorating and farming while someone else wants to explore temples or hunt for resources. The developer also says Luma Island has no stamina bars or inventory limits, which removes two common management pressures from the farming-adventure formula.

Those design choices should not be read as proof that the game is effortless. The point is that it gives players control over how demanding they want the experience to be.

The PS5 version expands a game that already has a PC audience

Luma Island originally launched on PC in November 2024. Feel Free Games says more than 800,000 players have joined since then. That figure comes from the developer, so it is useful as launch context rather than an independently audited sales total.

The PS5 announcement continues the game's move beyond PC and puts cross-platform support at the centre of the pitch. For existing groups, the practical question is whether a new PS5 player can join friends elsewhere; according to the developer, the answer is yes.

What remains unknown is the exact release date. Until Feel Free Games or PlayStation publishes one, the reliable status is simple: Luma Island is confirmed for PS5, it is available to wishlist, and four-player cross-platform co-op is part of the plan.
