Helldivers 2 Scope of Authority Warbond Brings New Sniper Gear on October 20

Arrowhead’s next Premium Warbond is built around precision, concealment and long-distance fire, with an October 20 unlock date.

A new Helldivers 2 equipment drop is taking aim at players who would rather line up a shot than sprint into the next alarm. Arrowhead has announced Scope of Authority, a Premium Warbond scheduled for October 20, and the theme is unusually focused: long-range weapons, camouflage-inspired armour and tools that help a squad keep distant enemies at a disadvantage.

This is an announced pack, not proof that its weapons have already entered the live game. Arrowhead's October 13 PlayStation Blog post details what can be unlocked, while the official Helldivers 2 game page provides the wider cooperative shooter context. Actual effectiveness against particular enemies will depend on live balance and player choices once the pack is available.

The rifles and tools in the new Warbond

The R-40 Sightliner is the marquee sniper rifle. Arrowhead describes it as a bolt-action primary built for armour-piercing precision. That makes its intended role easy to understand: picking deliberate targets at range, rather than spraying an entire patrol with shots. The P-44 Mist machine pistol offers a contrasting one-handed option for enemies that manage to close the distance.

The larger AMW-20 Apex is a backpack-fed anti-materiel rifle with assisted reloading, meant for heavier opposition. It should not be confused with the Sightliner, which is presented as a primary weapon. Meanwhile, the LAS-44 Nova uses a charged thermal projectile. Arrowhead describes the energy weapon as having a cooling design for more sustained precision fire, but that is the studio's specification, not a measured damage or endurance claim from independent testing.

Players also get the G-11 Caltrops throwable. Instead of functioning as another gun, it scatters proximity-triggered submunitions that slow and stun enemies. The tactical connection is clear on paper: create space for a patient firing line, buy time when a flank breaks down, or force an approaching group to cross an inconvenient area. Whether any of those approaches proves optimal is a matter for actual matches.

Armour designed for staying hidden

Scope of Authority adds the SS-33 Mimetic Marshal light armour and SS-15 Focal Point medium armour. Both carry the Stationary Shroud passive, which Arrowhead says reduces weapon sway and enemy detection range when the Helldiver is crouched or prone. That is a specific posture-dependent benefit, not blanket invisibility while running around the map.

The presentation follows the same theme: foliage-inspired concealment for the light set, integrated optics for the medium set, matching capes and player cards, and a Manual Ballistic Projection emote. The pack also includes a Longshot title. These additions offer style and player expression, but they do not establish how the new gear will compare with existing favourites in live combat.

There is an important purchase distinction. The official announcement says unlocking the Warbond's contents requires the base game, Super Credits and game progression. Super Credits are the game's Warbond currency; the announcement is not offering every item as a free patch reward simply because the pack launches on October 20.

For players planning a build, the sensible reading is that Scope of Authority offers a complete long-distance equipment theme without promising a guaranteed best-in-slot setup. Watch the October 20 availability date, check your currency and progression, then assess the actual equipment in the game. The strongest claim today is about what Arrowhead has revealed, not how a loadout we have not tested will perform.
