Elta: Defy All Gods now has a February 2, 2027 release date, and players do not have to wait until then to see how its mix of brawling and platforming works.

Afterburner Studios announced on October 1 that a free demo is available, including a PlayStation 5 version. Gematsu reports the full game is planned for PS5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam.

The pitch is deliberately physical: close-range martial-arts combat combined with non-linear exploration and platforming, rather than a game built around standing back and firing from safety.

A dragon god and a hostile planet

Elta begins with its protagonist searching for a lost god before becoming stranded on a hostile world. The unusual twist is that the new draconic companion travelling alongside Elta is also a millennia-old god.

Afterburner describes the game as an action-platformer that blends brawler-style combat with exploration. The studio is the team behind Dreamscaper, but Elta is aiming for a more kinetic structure built around movement and hand-to-hand encounters.

The October PlayStation Blog post is useful because it moves the project from a vague future release into something players can put on a calendar.

The demo is the immediate news

A February launch is still months away, but the demo gives players a current way to judge the basic feel for themselves.

That matters for a game selling an unusual combination of systems. Terms such as "fluid platforming" or "adrenaline-fuelled combat" are promotional descriptions until players can see how the controls and encounters actually behave.

The demo does not prove how the final campaign will hold up, and it should not be treated as a review build. Balance, performance and content can all change before release.

Platforms are now clearer too

Gematsu's October 1 report lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam for the February 2 release.

The PlayStation Blog post naturally focuses on PS5, where the free demo is available now, but the wider launch is not a PlayStation exclusive.

That distinction is worth making because platform-specific announcements can easily make a multiplatform game sound narrower than it is.

What to take away

Elta: Defy All Gods now has three concrete pieces of information that were previously easier to blur together: a February 2, 2027 launch date, a defined PS5/Xbox Series/PC platform list, and a playable demo.

The rest remains something to judge closer to release.

For now, the demo is the most practical part of the announcement. Players interested in the mix of martial arts, platforming and a dragon companion can test the basic idea without needing to rely entirely on trailer language.

Afterburner's own description also frames the exploration as labyrinthine and non-linear. That suggests movement is meant to do more than connect combat rooms, although the demo is still the better place to see how much freedom the current build actually gives players.

The studio's prior game, Dreamscaper, gives useful context for why Elta is worth watching, but it should not be treated as proof of quality. A developer's previous work can explain expectations; it cannot guarantee how a new combat system, campaign structure or technical release will land. February's final build will have to answer those questions on its own.
