EA Sports College Football 27 is available to play at no extra charge for all Xbox members through Sunday, September 6 as the headline game in this weekend's Free Play Days lineup. Xbox says the College Football 27 offer does not require Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential, making its access rule broader than the subscriber-only part of the promotion.
The same Free Play Days window also includes The Survivalists, The Lonesome Guild and Under the Waves, but they are not offered on identical terms. The Survivalists requires an eligible Game Pass membership, while The Lonesome Guild and Under the Waves are limited to two-hour trials.
College Football 27 gets the broadest access
Xbox lists College Football 27 as free to try from September 3 through September 6 for all Xbox members. Players can use the relevant Xbox Store listing while signed into their account to install the game during the window. The promotion is temporary and does not permanently add the game to an account.
EA describes College Football 27 as its current college football release on Xbox Series X|S and other supported platforms. The 2026 edition expands Dynasty with the Dynasty Blueprint, adds dynamic weather, broadens Road to Glory options and includes more than 1,500 new plays. Those features are part of the full game rather than special content created for Free Play Days.
The practical value is straightforward: Xbox owners who have not bought the game can sample the normal experience before the access period ends. Progress and purchase terms should be checked on the store page, but the weekend itself is an access promotion rather than a separate demo build.
The other games use narrower terms
The Survivalists is also available through September 6, but Xbox requires Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential for that title. The Lonesome Guild and Under the Waves use a different model again: Xbox describes both as two-hour timed trials available to Xbox members.
Those distinctions matter because the four-game headline can otherwise sound like one uniform offer. College Football 27 has the widest stated access, The Survivalists is subscriber-gated, and the other two are time-limited trials rather than unrestricted weekend access.
The offer ends September 6, so players interested in College Football 27 have a limited remaining window. After Free Play Days closes, normal ownership or subscription conditions apply. Checking the Xbox Store before beginning a large download is sensible, especially late in the weekend when the remaining play time may be shorter than the installation time on a slower connection.
Because the offer is open to all Xbox members for College Football 27, it is also a useful reminder not to assume every Free Play Days game has the same Game Pass gate. Xbox publishes the eligibility line for each title separately, and this weekend is a good example of why that matters.
If the game clicks during the trial, compare the store edition and price you actually want before buying. Free access can make it easy to jump straight from playing to checkout, but the trial itself does not require a purchase and there is no benefit in rushing the edition decision.
