Castlevania and Bluey's Happy Snaps headline Xbox's October 12–16 releases

Xbox's October 12–16 schedule includes a new Belmont adventure and a Brisbane-made Bluey game, but the subscription labels need careful reading.

Xbox's next release week is a busy one for anyone who wants a very different game depending on the mood. The October 9 Next Week on Xbox schedule runs from October 12 through October 16, with Castlevania: Belmont's Curse and Bluey's Happy Snaps among the titles planned for Thursday, October 15. One leans into gothic monster hunting; the other treats a camera and a familiar Australian family as the starting point for an adventure.

Those dates are advance listings, not evidence that the games were already available on October 11. Xbox also cautions that release dates can change. The more useful question for prospective players is which versions and access options to watch when the calendar reaches launch day.

Two very different October 15 arrivals

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is billed for October 15 and carries the Xbox Play Anywhere label in Xbox Wire's schedule. Konami's game is set in a burning Paris in 1499, where Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose pursue monsters using the Vampire Killer whip. The listing gives a specific setting and family premise; it does not provide a basis for claims about how the game feels in a player's hands.

For Xbox users, Play Anywhere is the label to notice. It normally identifies eligible Xbox and Windows PC purchases that work across supported platforms under the applicable account arrangement. Availability on another console or service should never be inferred from that logo alone. Check the live product page for the precise edition and device compatibility.

Bluey's Happy Snaps is a striking change of pace. Developed by Gameloft Brisbane, the October 15 family game follows Bluey and Bingo with Dad's old camera. Players visit recognisable Brisbane locations, take pictures, and collect memories in a scrapbook. The game's own announcement and Xbox's preview describe solo play or a second player joining in, making it less about a competitive finish line and more about exploring together.

Xbox Wire marks Bluey's release Game Pass, Smart Delivery and Xbox Play Anywhere. These are three different signals. Game Pass indicates planned access through the subscription offering specified by Xbox; Smart Delivery concerns receiving the appropriate supported console version; Play Anywhere identifies cross-device purchasing compatibility on eligible Xbox platforms. None of the three means the game is universally free to own.

Read the Game Pass fine print

Xbox's separate October Game Pass announcement helps resolve the subscription question. It lists Bluey's Happy Snaps for October 15 as a day-one addition for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with access across the supported cloud, console, handheld and PC categories. The tier and device combination matters. A cheaper or different subscription cannot safely be assumed to include identical access.

The calendar also has other arrivals worth watching. Xbox Wire places Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 on October 14 and Chained Beasts on October 15, among additional releases. A schedule of releases is not a recommendation for every taste, and readers should double-check live regional store entries if they have a specific launch date or purchase planned.

For someone shopping the week, the practical choice is straightforward: use the official schedule as the planning map, then confirm the actual store label when the title goes live. Castlevania fans can watch for the new Belmont chapter; households after a lighter shared game can compare Bluey's purchase option with their Game Pass tier.

October 15 may put a whip and a camera on the same Xbox storefront page. What matters is knowing which one suits the player, and which platform benefits are actually included rather than presumed.
