World of Warcraft: Forever is heading to PAX Aus from October 9 to 11, with Blizzard planning a live deep dive into one of the new dungeons coming to the game.
Executive producer Holly Longdale will open the Melbourne event as its Storytime keynote speaker. She will be joined on stage by associate production director Clay Stone, who Blizzard says will give an in-depth look at a new World of Warcraft: Forever dungeon and discuss the team's design philosophy and development process.
The session is scheduled for October 9 from noon to 1:30 p.m. AEDT and will also stream on the Warcraft and PAX Twitch channels, so the dungeon presentation is not limited to people at the convention.
Blizzard is promising a dungeon deep dive, not a full content reveal
The wording matters because independent coverage has already started using the phrase “mega dungeon” to describe what Blizzard is teasing. PC Gamer reports that Stone has discussed a larger, exploratory dungeon intended to evoke the feeling of getting lost in older World of Warcraft spaces.
That is useful context, but Blizzard's September 28 event announcement is narrower. It confirms a new dungeon, a behind-the-scenes design discussion and an exclusive deep dive. It does not publish a final encounter count, expected completion time, loot table or full launch plan for that dungeon.
Keeping those boundaries clear makes the PAX session more interesting, not less. The presentation is now the place where Blizzard can turn broad design talk into concrete details.
PAX Aus will also have hands-on beta access
Blizzard says World of Warcraft: Forever will have a booth across all three days of PAX Aus with hands-on opportunities for the beta. The company is also running a themed photo experience and a quest-card promotion tied to a Pinny Arcade pin and prize draw.
Longdale and Stone are scheduled for a developer meet-and-greet after the Friday keynote. For players outside Melbourne, the livestream is the important part: it provides a direct way to see the dungeon presentation without relying on second-hand descriptions from the show floor.
World of Warcraft: Forever is still in a phase where individual systems, classes and world details are being revealed in pieces. A dungeon deep dive is useful because instanced group content can show how the project's broader “Forever” philosophy translates into actual spaces and encounters.
The sensible expectation for October 9 is therefore specific. Blizzard has promised a close look at one new dungeon and the thinking behind it. Anything beyond that — final scale, exact rewards, release timing or additional dungeon announcements — should wait for the presentation rather than being filled in from teaser language.
For an Australian audience, the local timing is unusually convenient: the main session is scheduled in AEDT rather than forcing viewers to translate a US showcase into the middle of the night. Blizzard's own event page is the best source for any last-minute timetable changes.
The beta booth also gives the announcement a useful reality check. Players at PAX will be able to see a current build while the stage presentation explains one piece of its design. That still does not make show-floor impressions a substitute for final-release details, but it should produce more concrete information than a teaser alone.
