NVIDIA put WARDOGS at the center of its September 10 GeForce NOW update, naming BULKHEAD's 100-player tactical shooter as one of nine games joining the cloud service this week. The catch arrived almost immediately: WARDOGS' GeForce NOW onboarding has been delayed, so the game's Steam Early Access launch does not currently mean instant cloud access.
That distinction matters because NVIDIA's own GFN Thursday announcement repeatedly presents WARDOGS as arriving at Early Access launch, but it also includes the standard warning that store release dates and GeForce NOW availability can differ while games are onboarded. Later on September 10, Sportskeeda reported that NVIDIA had confirmed a last-minute delay requiring work with BULKHEAD around the game's security tooling.
WARDOGS was supposed to be the week's headline cloud launch
The original weekly lineup is still substantial. Alongside WARDOGS, NVIDIA listed Bus Simulator 27, Halloween: The Game, Honeycomb: The World Beyond, Wanderburg, Shroom and Gloom, Train Sim World 7 Advanced Access, Welcome to Elderfield and Death Stranding Director's Cut. The update also highlights Valheim's 1.0 Deep North release as a major returning attraction for cloud players.
WARDOGS was the obvious centerpiece because it launched into Steam Early Access on September 10. NVIDIA's cloud announcement describes a 100-player tactical shooter with three-team Control Zone matches, vehicles, building and destruction.
For GeForce NOW users, however, the only useful status is the current one: announced for this week's library, but delayed at onboarding. That is exactly the kind of gap NVIDIA's availability disclaimer is designed to cover. A game can be released on Steam and still need additional work before it is streamable through GeForce NOW.
Cloud launches still have another compatibility layer
The delay is a reminder that cloud support is not just a store listing switch. A game has to function inside NVIDIA's hosted environment, including its launcher, anti-cheat and other security dependencies. Sportskeeda says the WARDOGS problem involves security-software compatibility and requires collaboration between NVIDIA and BULKHEAD.
That is more specific than the original GFN Thursday post, but NVIDIA has not published a new date in the blog itself. Until there is a confirmed update, players should treat WARDOGS as pending rather than live on GeForce NOW.
The broader weekly update remains intact, and NVIDIA's September roadmap had already listed WARDOGS among the month's planned additions. The quick change is useful context: this is one of those cases where the headline and the practical reality diverged within hours. WARDOGS is a GeForce NOW game on the announced slate; actually launching it from the cloud is the part still being worked on.
The next meaningful update will be an availability confirmation from NVIDIA or BULKHEAD. There is no reason to turn a launch-day compatibility problem into a bigger prediction than that.
For anyone choosing between installing locally and waiting for cloud access, that makes the decision easy for the moment. The Steam release is separate from GeForce NOW onboarding. Cloud players should wait for the service to show the game as available rather than assuming the September 10 store date guarantees a playable GFN session.
That distinction is easy to miss on a busy launch day, but it is the difference between a listed release and a cloud session players can actually start.
