Rockstar posts 39 new GTA VI screenshots two weeks before launch

The Launch Gallery shows Vice City and Leonida in close detail, but reports say it reveals little about how GTA VI plays.

Rockstar has put out a fresh batch of Grand Theft Auto VI screenshots with two weeks left on the clock. If you were hoping for a last-minute look at how the game plays, this isn't it. PC Gamer counted 39 new images in what Rockstar calls its Launch Gallery, and Video Games Chronicle says they are mostly cinematic, with little to learn about gameplay.

One note on sourcing: we couldn't read Rockstar's gallery page or its Newswire post directly, so the original announcement hasn't been checked here. Everything below comes from the outlets named.

What Rockstar said

Inven Global reports that Rockstar announced the gallery on X and that the images are on a Launch Gallery page on the official GTA VI site. According to Inven Global, the post said: "Grand Theft Auto VI is now officially only two weeks away," and invited fans to "enjoy a stunning look at Vice City and beyond". It signed off with "See you in Leonida on November 19."

Inven Global says the image attached to that post shows Jason and Lucia in a convertible with the top down, both holding handguns, with neon light reflecting off the windscreen.

What's left before launch

Video Games Chronicle says GTA VI arrives on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a PC port expected some time later. PC Gamer says it is still waiting to hear about PC.

For anyone after actual play, Video Games Chronicle still points to the gameplay reveal shared through Netflix in August. It expects one more official beat, a launch-day trailer, and reads Rockstar as wanting everyone to wait until the game is in their hands.

Inven Global adds that the gallery follows the launch trailer Rockstar released on October 15, and that the original score by Justice is due on December 11, about three weeks after the game.

Jax's take: Thirty-nine screenshots, and one of the best questions PC Gamer pulled from them is about a dog in the back of one frame. That says plenty about how tightly Rockstar is holding this launch. It isn't explaining anything now, just keeping the game on your screen for two more weeks. So use the gallery for what it's good at: wallpapers and pixel-peeping. If you're deciding how the game actually plays, the August footage is still the better watch.
