EA is bringing Street Fighter 6 into Apex Legends with a crossover event that starts September 22, combining a Street Fighter-themed Wildcard experience on Olympus with new cosmetics and event rewards. The collaboration is more than a skin drop: EA's current event material describes a new Wildcard mode and a Street Fighter remix of the Olympus map.
The event lands alongside Apex Legends' Marked midseason period, which began its second split on September 15 with balance changes, loot adjustments and anti-cheat work. That timing makes the crossover part of an already active midseason update rather than a standalone season launch.
Olympus becomes the crossover stage
EA's Apex site shows Olympus decorated around Street Fighter 6, including a remixed presentation built around the collaboration. The event also introduces Fighter Form as part of the Wildcard experience, giving the crossover a gameplay identity instead of leaving Street Fighter references entirely in the store.
EA is also promoting a Hadoken Mythic Universal Melee cosmetic with a matching Deathbox and a set of Street Fighter-inspired Legend skins. Those cosmetics are the most obvious crossover layer, but the map treatment and mode changes are what make the event materially different from a normal themed bundle.
Players should still separate those pieces. A cosmetic purchase does not define the rules of the limited-time mode, and event gameplay will disappear on a schedule that is different from ownership of items bought or earned during the event.
The event follows a substantial midseason patch
EA's September 14 Marked midseason patch notes say Split 2 adds Legend balance changes, adjusts loot availability, buffs several long-range weapons and expands anti-cheat detection for unauthorized controller hardware or software across PC and consoles. EA says enforcement can follow review when those systems flag prohibited behavior.
Those changes are part of the core game and should not be confused with the Street Fighter crossover itself. They matter because anyone returning for the collaboration is also returning to a changed Marked ruleset.
EA's news page lists the Street Fighter 6 event on September 15 and the midseason patch one day earlier, making the sequence clear: the competitive sandbox changed first, then the collaboration was announced for the following week.
For players deciding whether to jump back in, the practical distinction is simple. September 22 brings the crossover presentation, Wildcard event and cosmetics; the Marked midseason balance and anti-cheat changes are already part of Apex Legends before that date.
The collaboration gives EA a flashy reason to bring people back, but the more useful question is which layer you care about. Street Fighter fans get themed visuals and a special event. Regular Apex players get that on top of a midseason sandbox that has already shifted underneath it.
The crossover is scheduled to go live one week after Split 2 started. EA's event promotion also points to time-limited Twitch and Discord rewards around the launch window, which means some rewards have their own dates and account-linking requirements rather than simply appearing when a player opens Apex. Check the live event page before assuming a cosmetic or reward is earned through ordinary matches.
