Wuthering Waves 3.8 lands November 12, and Steam players have a reinstall to do

Version 3.8 brings Lily, a Material Locator and PSSR on PS5 Pro, but Steam players must uninstall the old package and move to Kuro's Official Launcher.

If you play Wuthering Waves on Steam, the most useful line about Version 3.8 isn't in the trailer. It's in a Steam notice Kuro Games posted on November 5: uninstall the old game package completely before you carry on.

Version 3.8, "Lilies in a Dying Dream", arrives on November 12. Kuro Games is swapping the game's Steam download method for its Official Launcher during the update maintenance, and the steps are short:

  1. Completely uninstall the old game package on Steam.
  2. Once Version 3.8 maintenance begins, download and install the new Official Launcher through Steam.
  3. From the launcher, select the resource tier Kuro says will suit your storage and device.

Don't panic about your account. Kuro's notice says the process only touches local files, and account data and in-game progress aren't affected. It also gives you the fix if things go sideways: login failures, payment errors or missing map assets are your cue to check the old package is really gone.

Why the launcher is changing

The payoff is storage. Kuro says future versions will split the single resource package into three tiers, UHD, HD and SD, based on graphics quality, models and other assets. The notice doesn't spell out how much of that you'll see on November 12, so treat it as where things are heading, not a promise for launch day.

The press release for 3.8, carried by Inven Global, mentions a similar choice on the PC launcher: Full Resources or Basic Resources, plus an upgraded Resource Cleanup feature to free up space. Note the fine print. Those PC options are rolling out gradually as a limited test, so you might not see them on day one.

Steam pre-download comes later too. Kuro's notice says it switches on once pre-download for Version 4.0 starts.

What's in the update

The story continues with Chapter IV Act V, "A Bouquet for Tomorrow", which the release says also starts setting up the world and narrative of Version 4.0. New Resonator Lily joins with the new weapon Lullaby. 4Gamer's report lists her as a 5-star in the first-half limited banner, voiced in Japanese by Natsumi Takamori, and says Rover meets her aboard a soul train.

Inven's copy of the release also lists a new Tactical Hologram challenge, Calamity Effigy, plus Hiyuki's deluxe outfit Lune Noire and accessory Flaming Sakura. Events include Second Coming of Solaris: Unwritten Dreams, Lahai-Roi Blocks: Turnabout, Lollo Campaign: Groundwork and the combat event Dreamfield Odyssey, along with two login events.

The small changes you'll actually feel

This is where 3.8 quietly earns its keep:

  • Material Locator: a button in the Guidebook's Material Collection page and the Resonator Ascension Planner teleports you to unlocked challenges that drop what you need, or starts them straight away.
  • Blitz Mode: when claiming rewards after a material collection challenge, you can restart it without reloading.
  • Rover's Resonance Conversion: the page is simplified, it switches to the matching Echo set automatically after conversion, and Rover can hold separate Echo sets for each Resonance Attribute.

Inven's copy of the release adds that Resonator animations have been polished for turning in place, movement transitions and combat hit reactions.

Console players get a choice as well. Supported consoles can pick Performance or Quality under Graphics Quality, though the setting isn't available on PS5 or Xbox Series S. On PS5 Pro, you can enable PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for image resolution up to 4K. RPG Site lists the update for iOS, Android, PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

So clear the old package, wait for maintenance, then grab the launcher. It beats troubleshooting a missing map on launch night.
