Jurassic Sunset Games has dated its retro indie for the day before GTA 6, and you can now pre-order it on Xbox.

Vice: Magic City Mayhem now has a pre-order listing on the Xbox Store, priced at $14.99 in the US with a release date of 18 November 2026. The listing names Jurassic Sunset Games as both developer and publisher and shows the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Pure Xbox, which reported the listing, puts the UK price at £12.49 and notes the date lands one day before GTA 6 arrives on 19 November.

It isn't Xbox-only either. The game's Steam page carries the same 18 November date for PC.

What it actually is

Despite the neon key art, this is not an open-world crime sim. Both store pages describe it as "a top-down 8-bit retro action/adventure game inspired by Zelda with a Vice City theme".

You play Dutch, described in the store copy as "one of Magic City's most feared enforcers", on a quest to rescue "your one true love", Sophie. The route runs through wild nightclubs, scenic beaches and, per the listing, "raptor-infested yachts". The developer pitches it as Zelda-style exploration, combat and puzzles crossed with the storylines, world-building and dark humour of Vice City.

The Steam page fills in the shape of it:

  • dungeons built around environmental puzzles and hidden secrets
  • boss fights with their own attack patterns
  • secret passages and hidden rooms to dig out across the map
  • special weapons and items, some dealing fire damage

Steam lists it as single-player with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud, and offers a demo download ahead of launch. The Xbox listing shows a TEEN rating for violence and suggestive themes, plus Xbox achievements and cloud saves.

A Kickstarter game picking a fight

According to Pure Xbox, the project started on Kickstarter last year and raised $13,278 against a $10,000 goal. The outlet also reports that some of the team have previously worked at EA and Telltale Games.

The developer's own post makes the timing plain. Pure Xbox embeds a September post from the developer's account that announces 18 November as "One day before #GTA6", adds "SUCK IT, @RockstarGames", and says the game is coming "to all major platforms on day one". The Xbox and Steam listings are the two platforms we could confirm; we couldn't check that social post directly, so the wider platform claim is the developer's, as quoted by Pure Xbox.

What it means if you're interested

There are two ways in right now: pre-order on Xbox, or wishlist it on Steam and try the demo first. The store copy describes a top-down Zelda-style adventure with Vice City's theme and humour, not an open-world crime game, so set expectations accordingly.

Jax's take: Launching an indie next to the biggest release of the year sounds mad, but it's sharper than it looks. Nobody searching "Vice City" on 18 November is going to miss a $15 game with that cover. The real test is whether the dungeons hold up once the joke wears off, and the free demo on Steam is the cheapest way to find out before you spend anything.
