Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is finished before its global launch ever happened. VGC reports the free-to-play mobile shooter has been cancelled and leaves mobile stores on November 21, and that its servers shut down for good on May 1, 2027. Push Square says developer Oh BiBi announced the decision to stop work on it.
If you're one of the players who got in during the soft launch, you still have about six months of matches left. If you were waiting on the global launch, it isn't coming.
The three dates to know
The shutdown runs in three steps, as reported by VGC and Push Square from the notice on the game's official website:
- November 6, 2026: the final planned update rolls out.
- November 21, 2026: the app is removed from stores.
- May 1, 2027: the servers permanently shut down and the game stops being playable.
Kotaku's report gives November 16 for the delisting in its text, but the post it embeds says November 21, the date in the official statement as quoted by Push Square.
"We've made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble," the statement reads, as quoted by VGC. The passages VGC and Push Square quote don't give a reason.
What changes if you're still playing
You keep playing after the delisting. VGC says existing players can carry on until the May shutdown, and that is the part worth planning around: the store date stops new downloads, not your matches.
The economy has changed too. Here's the short version:
- In-app purchases have been removed, so there's nothing left to spend real money on.
- The Super Pass is now free for all players, VGC reports.
- Qwark Pass seasons keep running until the May shutdown.
- Players can keep earning rewards through play and spend that currency on upgrades, cosmetics and characters.
Push Square sums it up the same way: content that used to be premium is now free or can be earned through normal play. So the next step is simple: grab that Super Pass, work through what's left of the Qwark Pass, and spend your currency on anything you've been saving for. You've got six months and no reason left to hoard it.
How far it got
Ranger Rumble was announced in November 2025 as a "fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter," VGC reports, published by PlayStation and developed by Oh BiBi in partnership with Insomniac.
It soft-launched that same month in the Philippines and Indonesia, then spread to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Canada and the UK. Push Square says players were invited to pre-register back in July ahead of the full release. Kotaku reports that a post in the game's Discord later said it wouldn't launch globally on October 5 as planned.
That's why Kotaku describes the reaction as mostly people around the world lamenting that they never got a chance to play it. Those who did seemed reasonably happy: Push Square puts it at 4.2 out of 5 from 93 ratings on the App Store, and 4.4 from more than 2,000 ratings on Google Play.
For Ratchet & Clank fans, this leaves things quiet. Kotaku points out the last Ratchet & Clank game came out in 2021. As for PlayStation's mobile plans, Push Square notes Sony still has one or two other games in the works, including Horizon Steel Frontiers from NCSOFT.
Oh BiBi's notice is on the game's own website, which isn't among the sources xarmo cites, so the details here are credited to the outlets that reported it.
