Pikmin 3 Deluxe has received a free update aimed specifically at Nintendo Switch 2 players, adding sharper output and GameShare support while leaving the experience on the original Switch unchanged. Version 1.2.0 was released on September 1 and applies its new features when the game is played on Switch 2.
Nintendo says the game now supports the Switch 2 screen and high-resolution televisions, producing a sharper image. That is a presentation upgrade rather than a new content campaign or remaster, but it should make the existing environments and tiny Pikmin easier to read on newer displays.
The demo is separate too
There is another small compatibility detail in Nintendo's support note: the update data described for version 1.2.0 has not been released for the Pikmin 3 Deluxe demo. The demo remains on its own latest version rather than automatically inheriting every enhancement from the full game.
For existing owners, the update therefore does not require re-buying Pikmin 3 Deluxe as a dedicated Switch 2 product. It is a free software update that lets the full game make better use of the newer system in a few targeted areas.
The sharper image is the broadest benefit because it applies to normal play on Switch 2. GameShare is more situational, but it may be the more interesting change for households or groups that already use Bingo Battle and want an easier way to set up a supported local or GameChat session.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe remains fundamentally the same game: a campaign about directing groups of Pikmin through environments, collecting resources and solving traversal problems, with separate multiplayer modes around it. Version 1.2.0 does not change that structure. Instead, Nintendo has given an older Switch release a small set of Switch 2-aware features, making it cleaner on modern displays and more flexible for one of its multiplayer modes.
For households already using Bingo Battle, that means the update changes setup convenience without altering the campaign rules or progression systems.
