HoYoverse announced a Switch 2 version of its cosy life sim at its November 1 pre-launch broadcast, while the PC, iOS and Android launch stays on December 4.

HoYoverse's cosy planet-tending game now has a console version on the way. At its pre-launch broadcast on November 1, HoYoverse announced that Petit Planet is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, according to Famitsu, which reproduces the company's press release, and Inven Global.

A quick note on sourcing: we couldn't check HoYoverse's own announcement directly, because its official news page didn't load in a readable form for us. Everything below is credited to the outlets reporting it.

Switch 2 comes later, PC and mobile come first

The console version doesn't change the main date. Famitsu reports that the PC, iOS and Android versions still launch worldwide on December 4, 2026, with pre-downloads opening on December 1 and pre-registration open now. Inven Global also reports the December 4 launch, with the Switch 2 version scheduled for 2027.

That's as precise as it gets for now: neither outlet gives a month for the Switch 2 release. In the press release Famitsu quotes, HoYoverse says the development team is hard at work on the Switch 2 version and that it will strive to show actual gameplay footage and more details soon. Further Switch 2 news will come through the game's official social media accounts, according to the same release.

To mark the announcement, Famitsu reports a giveaway on Petit Planet's official X account: quote-posting the campaign post with the hashtag "#Switch2でもプチプラネット" enters a draw for 13 winners in total. Three win a Japanese-language, Japan-only Nintendo Switch 2 with a Switch 2 Pro Controller, and ten win a 10,000 yen Amazon gift card.

What else the broadcast covered

Inven Global reports that key developers appeared on the livestream to walk through the game's main features and the event schedule ahead of launch. HoYoverse CEO Liu Wei also made a surprise appearance, according to Inven Global, and stressed that players can get more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items for free just through check-ins and normal play.

Pre-registration has already hit its big number. Inven Global describes a milestone event on the official website with rewards tied to 10 million global pre-registrations, and the press release Famitsu quotes says pre-registrations have now passed 10 million, so the pre-registration rewards, including a set of items whose Japanese names translate as "Starry Sky Penlight" and "Star Sapling", go to all players.

Inven Global also lists a run of pre-launch events:

  • a party event where three friends who pre-register together each receive the in-game "Akibo Top";
  • "Gifts from the Starsea", where completing missions enters you into draws for iPhones and official merchandise;
  • a "Launch a Planet" web event for drawing and sharing your own planet;
  • a "Seasonal Creation Event" creator programme that opens with the launch.

One more broadcast is on the way: Famitsu reports a final pre-launch livestream on December 3, the day before release, with a special guest and news on post-launch events and collaborations. Its cast and air time will be announced later on official social media.

There's an in-person date too. Inven Global reports that HoYoverse will bring Petit Planet to G-STAR 2026 at BEXCO in Busan, from November 19 to 22, with a 100-booth presence, a demo zone for trying the game before launch, stage programmes, lucky draws and free merchandise. Inven Global describes it as the game's first offline event in Korea.

A reminder of what Petit Planet is

Famitsu describes it as HoYoverse's slow-life game, from the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. You raise a star of your own, reshape its terrain, arrange its areas the way you like, grow crops, fish and make furniture. Inven Global adds cooking, foraging, beachcombing and bug catching, plus a Luca Seed that grows into a Luca Arbor and changes the planet's seasons, look and ecosystem as it grows. Players can also visit each other's planets, trade and swap letters, and gather at the Galactic Bazaar for minigames such as rhythm games and card games, Inven Global reports.

Riley's take: A planet-sized life sim landing on a Nintendo console feels almost too on the nose, and I mean that as a compliment. What I want next is exactly what HoYoverse is promising and hasn't shown yet: real Switch 2 footage and a month. Until then, 2027 is a direction, not a date, and the December 4 launch on PC and phones is the one to plan around.
