Nintendo's Customer Appreciation Sale starts with 30% off dozens of Switch games

Nintendo's US Customer Appreciation Sale runs September 13-26 with 30% off dozens of Switch digital games and bundles, and Nintendo says tariff-related refunds helped make it possible.

Nintendo has started its US Customer Appreciation Sale, cutting 30% from dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles from September 13 through September 26. Nintendo says the promotion also includes savings on selected physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo and apparel, although the exact offers can vary by retailer and sales channel.

The unusual part is not simply the discount. Nintendo says tariff-related refunds helped make the promotion possible after the company absorbed most tariff-related costs itself. That gives an otherwise familiar store sale a very specific bit of 2026 context: this is Nintendo explicitly connecting a consumer promotion to money it received back from tariffs.

What Nintendo is actually discounting

Nintendo's announcement describes this as one of its largest promotions ever. The headline offer is 30% off dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles through Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store, with participating retailers also involved. The company separately lists selected physical games, DLC, accessories, amiibo and apparel among the categories with savings.

That wording matters. Nintendo is not promising that every game or every piece of Switch hardware is 30% off. It also does not announce a blanket Nintendo Switch 2 hardware discount. Products and offers can differ by retailer, so the sensible way to shop it is to check the actual listing rather than assume the headline percentage applies to an entire category.

The sale page also sits alongside Nintendo's normal Sales & Deals catalogue, which continues to carry other promotions. In other words, "Customer Appreciation Sale" is a named event, not a permanent new pricing policy.

Why the tariff note stands out

Nintendo's own explanation is unusually direct: while it says the company absorbed most tariff-related costs, refunds helped make promotions like this one possible. It does not say those refunds are being passed back to individual customers dollar-for-dollar, and it does not frame the sale as compensation for a particular purchase.

That distinction is worth keeping attached to the story. The benefit to shoppers is the promotion itself. Nintendo has not announced a cash-refund program for customers who previously bought games or hardware.

The timing also gives the promotion a clear endpoint. The US sale begins September 13 and runs through September 26, which means any specific deal should be checked while the event is active rather than treated as a lasting price cut.

The useful takeaway

If you already had a first-party Switch game or bundle on your wishlist, this is a broader-than-usual Nintendo sale worth checking. The 30% headline is meaningful because Nintendo's own catalogue is often the part shoppers watch most closely during platform sales.

Just keep the boundaries straight: dozens of digital Switch games and bundles are covered, other selected categories have savings, retailer offers vary, and Nintendo says tariff-related refunds helped enable the event. Anything beyond that needs to come from the live product listing, not from the headline alone.

That also makes comparison shopping important: the event spans Nintendo's own storefront and participating retailers, so the same category can carry different offers without changing the promotion's overall terms.
